Description

This is my contest entry for a contest on nintendo-fc

Introduction:
Simon Belmont´s first appearance was from the game developed by Konami, "CastleVania". It was first released in Japan 1986 and later in the USA and Europe 1987 for the "Nintendo Entertainment System" (NES).
Simon Belmont is a vampire killer. His main goal in the games is to kill Dracula, just like his ancestors before him. The games focuses on the family Belmont and Simon Belmont is one of the main protagonists in the CastleVania series. Simon´s other appearances are as follows,
"CastleVania II: Simon´s Quest" (1987) for the NES, "CastleVania IV" (1991) for the "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" (SNES), "CastleVania Chronicles" (2001) for the "Playstation" and "CastleVania Judgment" (2009) for the "Nintendo Wii."

Simon uses his whip as his primary weapon. By pressing the A button, Simon attacks with his whip, and he can also use different combos if you combine the A button by moving the joystick in different directions.

Regular A: Simon attacks with his whip. If you press the A button repetitively, he can perform other variations of different moves. If you hold down the A button without pressing it repetitively, you can move the joystick up and down or any directions you want and Simon can move his whip by swinging the arm up and down. The amount of damage the enemies recieve are from 1-5% and 3% for the "whip twirls".

Side and A: This is Simon´s charge attack. However, the whip will give the enemy serious amount of damage the longer you charge. Unlike his regular whip attack, the whip will reach a longer range the longer you hold. The amount of damage the enemies recieve are from 1-10%

Up and A: Simon can attack straight up with his whip. Just like his (Side and A) move, his whip will reach a longer range and get stronger the longer you charge.
If Simon attacks when he is in the air, he can perform a volt and attack with his whip when he spins. The amount of damage the enemies recieve are from 1-10%

Down and A: Simon attacks with his whip while he is ducking, but only on a low angle. When you charge, Simon can attack both in front and behind him. When Simon is attacking when he is in the air, he attacks straight down with his whip. The amount of damage the enemies recieve are from 1-10%

Simon´s special attacks are as follows:

Regular B: Simon throws an axe in the air against his enemies both when he is on the ground and in the air.
The amount of damage the enemies recieve are 5%

Side and B: Simon´s whip will set on flames when you charge. The longer you charge, the stronger the attack will get and the flame will be bigger. However, if you wait for its fullest without releasing the button in time, you will take 10% damage. The amount of damage the enemy recieve are from 5-20%

Up and B: This is Simon´s uppercut move. Simon can do a quick slash with his by using his dagger against an enemy. Enemies will recieve 10-15% damage if they get hit. This special move can cause you to lift from the ground, even if you are in the air. It can also be useful when you are about to die. When you are about to fall of the stage, you can use this move to save yourself.

Down and B: Simon carries many bottles of so called, "Holy Water." Simon can hold it just like a regular item in the game, like Bob-ombs for example. When you throw it, the bottle will break and then the water turns into blue flames. The flames will stay on position were the bottle broke for about 5 seconds. Each time an enemy touches it, they will recieve 15% damage. However, enemies can also catch the bottle when you throw it, so you can also take damage from it.

Final smash: Simon´s whip turns into a chain. When you attack, the chains will catch fire. Whenever you hit an enemy with it, they will recieve 20-50% damage. His chain will eventually change back to normal after 15 seconds.

Taunts:
Up taunt: Simon slashes his whip on the ground.
Down taunt: Simon crosses his arms and says: "You´re not much of a challenge."
Side taunt: Simon says: "Face the power of House Belmont!", while he spins his whip.

Victory poses:
Victory pose nr 1: Simon puts his whip back.
Victory pose nr 2: Simon throws his axe in the air and then catches it.
Victory pose nr 3: Simon says: "I have the same purpose as my ancestors before me. I am a vampire hunter."

Stopwatch: The stopwatch will freeze time. It will freeze all enemies for approximately 5 seconds.

Personal quote:
I´ve never really heard of the "CastleVania" series at my childhood. It wasn´t until my teenage years I heard about it and I decided to test it out. I did try the first game for the NES and I thought it was pretty fun. I´ve also searched for information about CastleVania like the characters and the gameplay and I thought it looked really interesting.

The reason why I put Simon Belmont in as a SSB character is because that he is one of those main characters from the NES that was really badass. Plus, Solid Snake from the "Metal Gear" series was a character who made it in the latest game of the series, "Super Smash Brothers Brawl", and it was a game character developed by Konami, so I thought maybe Simon could too because of the same reason. He has been in many game consoles made by Nintendo just like Snake has. Not just the NES, but also the Wii.

Simon looks way better as a blond than a redhead.
